Zaytuna Mosque
Al-Zaytuna Mosque, literally meaning the Mosque of Olive is a major mosque in Tunis. The mosque is the oldest in the Capital of Tunisia and covers an area of 5,000 square metres (1. 2 acres) with nine entrances. The airport is named for the historic city of Carthage, located just north of the airport. It is the base of operations for four airlines: Tunisair, Nouvelair Tunisia, Sevenair and Tunisavia. In 2007, it served 3,930,661 passengers. All ground handling is provided by Tunisair Handling, a 100% subsidiary of Tunisair, and security services are provided by the Police and the Customs
Cathedral of St. Vincent de Paul
The Cathedral of St Vincent de Paul is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Tunis. It is named in honour of Saint Vincent de Paul, a priest sold into slavery in Tunis, who after being freed took an interest in helping Christian slaves in the area. The cathedral is the headquarters of the Diocese of Tunis. It is situated in the Place de l´Indépendence in the Ville Nouvelle, a crossroads between Avenue Habib Bourguiba and Avenue de France, opposite the French embassy.
Lake of Tunis
The Lake of Tunis (Arabic: El Bahira´, French: Lac de Tunis) is a natural lagoon located between the Tunisian capital city of Tunis and the Gulf of Tunis (Mediterranean Sea). The lake covers a total of 37 square kilometres, about 14 square miles (36 km2), in contrast to its size its depth is very shallow. It was once the natural harbour of Tunis.

Gulf of Tunis is a large gulf in northeastern Tunisia. Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia, lies at the southern edge of the Gulf, as have a series of settled places over the last three millenia, each with a name similar to Carthage.

Mahdia shipwreck
The shipwreck of Mahdia was found by sponge fishermen off the coast of Tunisia in June 1907. The shipwreck near the modern town of Mahdia is dated about the 80s BC, or even later. It was presumably driven by a storm onto the north African coast en route from Piraeus, the port of Athens, to Italy, as it was carrying Greek works of art intended for Roman purchasers, marble and bronze sculptures, high-quality furniture fittings, decorative items and architectural elements. Salakta
Salakta has been occupied or ruled by many civilisations, including the Phoenicians, Byzantines, Romans, and Muslim Oubéidines. The attractions include a beach, catacombs, an ancient cemetery and a museum. Though not an established name in Tunisian tourism, Salakta is nevertheless one of the oldest historical sites in the country. Most of this is now under sea, unfortunately.
Thapsus
Thapsus (less commonly, Tapsus) was an ancient city in what is modern day Tunisia. Its ruins exist at Ras Dimas near Bekalta, approximately 200 km southeast of Carthage. Originally founded by Phoenicians, it served as a marketplace on the coast of the province Byzacena in Africa Propria. Thapsus was established near a salt lake on a point of land eighty stadia (14.8 km) from the island of Lampedusa.
